Japanese Imabari Towel - Capybara
🔴 Shipping starts from
Imabari Japanese towel, 100% cotton, embroidered with a capybara
In Japan, the capybara is a winter favourite: ever since 1982, when one was discovered by chance at a zoo in Shizuoka, wildlife parks have been setting up hot baths for them in the style of onsen, sometimes with yuzu floating on the surface.
This capybara towel features an embroidered image of the animal on a square of cotton woven in Imabari. On one side, terry cloth made from untwisted yarn absorbs water without rubbing the skin; on the other, the gauze is fine and dries quickly. This Japanese towel fits neatly into a school bag, a swimming bag or simply by the washbasin. And if you drape it over your head in the bath, you’ll be right on trend.
