Imabari Japanese hand towel, 100% cotton with alpaca embroidery
In Japan, young and old alike slip a mini towel into their bags, as hand dryers are often absent from public toilets. This hand towel reflects this very Japanese custom, featuring an embroidered alpaca as its mascot. This Andean animal has become a real star in Japan, where people love its ‘mofumofu’ quality – an onomatopoeic term describing anything soft and fluffy.
Made in Imabari, on the island of Shikoku, this Imabari towel has passed the label’s test: a small square of fabric placed on water must sink in under 5 seconds. On the reverse of the gauze, terry cloth made from untwisted yarn adds even more softness. Perfect as a gift for children who love soft, cuddly animals, or to keep for yourself as a pocket-sized alpaca towel.
