Japanese furoshiki, 100% cotton, 50x50 cm, printed with wisteria and koi carp
In Japanese, wisteria is called fuji: this has nothing to do with the famous volcano, which is written using different kanji. In spring, its clusters of blossoms draw crowds to places such as Ashikaga Flower Park, where a wisteria tree over a century old forms a veritable canopy of flowers. This Japanese furoshiki combines it with koi carp, which in Japan symbolise perseverance and success.
Its shantung cotton, supple and pleasant to the touch, beautifully wraps a jar of honey, a box of chocolates or a small book to give as a gift, without the need for paper or ribbon. By tying its corners in pairs, you can also create a small makeshift bag, perfect for carrying your lunch or a snack on a walk.
