Red women’s hanten jacket with a sakura pattern, a Japanese quilted indoor jacket

The hanten is the quilted jacket that the Japanese slip on at home as soon as the cold sets in, a custom dating back to the late Edo period, when this short garment became everyday wear for the common people. This one slips over your clothes and fastens with a simple tie at the front, with wide sleeves that leave room for a jumper or kimono underneath. The red fabric, dotted with tiny cherry blossoms, gives it a much more cheerful feel than a blanket draped over your shoulders, and its two patch pockets keep your hands warm on freezing evenings when the heating struggles to stop you from shivering.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
