Set of Two Washi Paper Tea Caddies

Set of 2 Japanese metal tea caddies covered with floral washi paper

The washi paper used to cover these two tea tins is made from mulberry fibres, giving it an irregular texture that catches the light differently depending on the angle. The lid features a pattern of multicoloured flowers, punctuated by a few temari – those embroidered balls that Japanese children used to exchange as good-luck charms.

On a practical note, loose tea is a delicate product: light and moisture can quickly rob it of its aromas. The double lid addresses this, with a flexible plastic inner seal that lies flat against the metal, followed by an outer lid that seals the whole thing. The two tins, one red and one black, come in an elegant cardboard box: the gift is ready to give as it is.
