Round Japanese Metal Tea Caddy with Famous Japanese Landmarks in Meisho-e Style
In Japan, loose tea is traditionally stored in a chazutsu, a tea caddy designed to help protect its contents from air, light and moisture. This one is decorated in the style of meisho-e, literally ‘pictures of famous places’, a genre associated with images of celebrated landscapes and landmarks. The design brings together Mount Fuji, a vermilion torii gate, a five-storey pagoda, a large seated Buddha, the snow-covered houses of Shirakawa-go and a traditional Japanese castle. It holds approximately 100 to 150 g of loose tea and makes a decorative addition to any tea lover’s kitchen.
