The samue was originally the workwear of Zen monks, worn whilst cleaning, cooking or tending the temple grounds, before it spread beyond the monasteries to become a popular item of loungewear in Japan. This navy blue set stays true to the original design, featuring a wrap-style jacket fastened with simple ties – no sash or buttons – and loose-fitting trousers tapered at the ankles so they don’t drag on the floor. CARE INSTRUCTIONS
To look after your garment, wash it separately on the first wash at 40°. The traditional indigo dye may run. Air-dry where possible and avoid using a tumble dryer. Do not use bleach to preserve the colours. Ironing on a medium heat is recommended. The fabric is designed to resist shrinkage, ensuring your garment will last a long time.
