In Japan, ‘maguro zanmai’ roughly means ‘tuna, and nothing but tuna’ – a perfect expression to describe this packet of sweets dedicated to the king of traditional sushi. Inside, you’ll find four stackable jelly sweets that you can mix and match yourself: white shari (vinegared rice, with a yoghurt flavour), and in various shades of pink,akami (lean tuna, strawberry flavour), chūtoro (medium-fatty tuna, cherry flavour) andōtoro (fatty tuna, apple flavour). The back of the packet even hides a baran – that little decorative green herb found on sushi platters – which you can cut to enhance the presentation before tucking in.
