Large Japanese fūrin wind chime in cast iron, featuring a Budō vine and grape motif
The vine motif originated in Greece, before travelling eastwards along the Silk Road. It reached Japan at the end of the 7th century under the name budō karakusa, and can be found on the treasures of the Shōsōin in Nara. The bunch of grapes and its tendrils are associated there with abundance and prosperity. This large Japanese cast-iron wind chime combines grapes, tendrils and a dragonfly within a square measuring 14.5 cm on each side and 5 cm thick. A Japanese indoor wind chime that requires little space: a narrow window or a wall recess will suffice.
