This Japanese towel is perfect for taking with you wherever you go: to the gym, on a hike or to the office to dry your hands. Its double weave combines a terry cloth side, which quickly absorbs water and sweat, with a cotton gauze side, which feels lighter against the skin. Pre-washed in the workshop, it is soft from day one, and its fine weave means it dries quickly between uses.
The design is by Hamamonyo, a Yokohama-based brand specialising in tenugui. Do be wary of otters, though: according to Japanese legends, the kawauso likes to disguise itself as a human to tease passers-by. A cheeky little towel, perfect for slipping into a sports bag or a gift parcel for an animal lover.
