This Japanese towel comes from Hamamonyo, a Yokohama-based company renowned for its tenugui – printed cotton strips used there as towels, scarves or gift wrapping. Its design is called ‘the black cat taking a nap’, and it is just as adorable to look at as its name suggests.
The fabric combines two layers – gauze on one side and terry cloth on the other – so the hand towel is highly absorbent yet remains thin when folded in four.
