Japanese Rice Bowl Kanna Cream

Japanese Mino ceramic rice bowl, with hand-carved ‘kanna’ design, handcrafted Japanese tableware
This Japanese rice bowl, 12 cm in diameter, holds 300 ml – enough for a bowl of rice, miso soup, porridge or a dessert. It is crafted in Toki, in Gifu Prefecture, at the heart of the Mino region, which produces around half of all Japanese ceramic tableware. At the Kinshō kiln, craftsman Shigemichi Tabata hand-carves a ‘kanna’ pattern: a blade pressed against the piece as it rotates on the potter’s wheel creates fine striations, which provide a good grip. This handcrafted Japanese tableware is dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe for reheating food. In Japan, each family member traditionally has their own rice bowl. It’s up to you to decide who gets this one!
