Japanese Otedama Figurine in Chirimen Fabric, Ebisu
Little otedama are traditional Japanese fabric dolls, originally used as juggling balls by children. Today, they're prized mostly as decorative good-luck charms, handmade from chirimen fabric (a silk crepe with a soft, distinctive feel). This one represents Ebisu, one of the Shichifukujin (the Seven Lucky Gods), god of prosperity and good fortune, always recognizable by his generous smile. With his purple and red kimono and tiny golden bell, he fits in the palm of your hand and brings a good dose of joy along with him.
