Daikokuten is one of the Shichifukujin, the Seven Lucky Gods worshipped in Japan for centuries. God of wealth and abundance, he's traditionally depicted with a jovial look and a red hat, both faithfully recreated on this otedama in chirimen fabric. Otedama are these small dolls, heirs to an age-old Japanese craft. Originally juggling balls for children, they later became treasured decorative charms. This one, with its green crepe body and golden bell, fits in the palm of your hand and works just as well for a game of jacks as it does as decor.
