Reaching Himeji's keep on foot means winding through 325 metres of maze-like paths, when a mere 130 metres would do as the crow flies: the castle was built as a labyrinth, full of sharp turns, staggered gates and dead ends. Ironically, none of it was ever put to the test, as the fortress never faced a single assault in centuries of history. This kit recreates that intricate wooden keep, standing since 1609, in an 8 cm format that goes together with no glue or tools. A fitting gift for anyone passionate about Japanese architecture.
