The decoration on this tea caddy draws inspiration from maki-e, the Japanese lacquer technique in which designs are traditionally embellished with gold powder. Against the deep black background are flowering ume plum branches, orange camellias, delicate streams traced in gold and subtle golden speckles. The tall, slender caddy holds up to 200 g of loose tea and is fitted with a clear plastic inner lid, topped by an outer lid in black lacquered metal to complete its elegant finish.
