The igeta is the stylized symbol, in Japanese folklore, of a well: two crossed beams forming an open square. A subtle, ancient motif, it was once associated with water, purity, and everyday life in the districts of Edo. On this cover, it's scattered in small beige crosshatching over a deep midnight blue background, with a slightly irregular line that recalls the hand-stamping of traditional Japanese textiles. Understated, authentic, and honestly rather rare to find outside of Japan.
