Anzutsumi is a Japanese sweet inspired by castella, the soft sponge cake introduced to Japan by Portuguese traders in the 16th century and now a beloved part of Japanese confectionery.
Each cake combines two delicious fillings inside its golden sponge: a rich Uji matcha bean paste and a soft piece of mochi that adds a pleasantly chewy texture. A limited-edition treat that's perfect with green tea or as an introduction to traditional Japanese sweets.
