This scene draws on one of Japan's most photographed views: the paved lanes of Higashiyama in Kyoto, climbing towards Yasaka Pagoda. Standing 46 metres tall since 1440, it's the last remaining trace of a temple founded long before it. Around it, the lane is shown at sunset, with lit-up shops, cherry blossom and passers-by in kimono. The whole piece folds out and closes up like a book, for either a full-size display or a closed book-nook version on the shelf. With 407 pieces, an LED system and a difficulty rated maximum by the manufacturer, this is a project for seasoned builders used to the most complex kits, but we promise the result is worth it.
