Japanese wooden book nook – Osaka alley with Tsutenkaku Tower and LED
When Osaka built its Shinsekai district in 1912, it modelled the northern half on Paris and the southern half on Coney Island. Tsūtenkaku Tower, standing right in the middle, was inspired by none other than the Eiffel Tower! This scene recreates the street at its feet, with glowing signs, skewer-and-chips stalls and other landmark touches of the district. It opens out in two panels or folds flat on the shelf, depending on how much space you have. With 370 pieces, six to eight hours of building, an LED system and a difficulty rated maximum by the manufacturer, this kit calls for a bit of model-building experience, but the result is well worth the effort.
