Kokuyo has designed these Japanese scissors for parcels and named them ‘hakoake’, meaning ‘open the box’. A slider extends the tip of the cutter blade by approximately 3 mm: just enough to cut through adhesive tape without damaging the contents underneath, whilst the guide at the front of the casing follows the edge of the cardboard. Push the slider to the second notch and the two blades extend to form a 35 mm pair of scissors, ideal for clothing labels, bags and envelopes. The whole unit folds away safely into a pocket or bag, or can be hung from your workbench using its cord loop.
