He created his own version, consisting of a thin layer of dough filled with anko, more akin to a mooncake than a brioche. Five years later, soldiers building the road between Hiragishi and Tsukisamu discovered these cakes and quickly took a liking to them. In fact, the road is still known today as the ‘Anpan Road’.
