A noren representing a wave, the traditional pattern of Japanese curtains
In Japan, the sea is omnipresent and an object of both veneration and fear. Did you know that on the Japanese archipelago, no matter where you are, the sea will never be more than 200 km away from you?
On this Noren curtain a wave of a raging sea is depicted - a traditional Japanese motif. This wave reminds us of the famous Japanese print, The Great Wave of Kanagawa. Within this raging sea, a Koi fish, symbol of strength and perseverance, faces the wave.
