In Japanese, this shade of orange is called \u003cem\u003edaidai\u003c\/em\u003e, named after a bitter orange whose fruit remains on the branch for several years: several generations coexist on it, and the word therefore also means ‘from generation to generation’. This resonates beautifully with the rich tradition embodied by this doll, handmade using traditional techniques. Whilst the colour gradient is contemporary, look at the head: the fringe, the red flower and the face of this \u003cstrong\u003eJapanese wooden doll\u003c\/strong\u003e all adhere to traditional conventions.
